What Does It Take to Succeed on Substack?
and what does success look like anyway?
Weighing the idea of hiring or purchasing coaching to create success on Substack - but before pulling the trigger I think I’m going to spend a few minutes here thinking about it with you. Join me?
Things I know from the time I’ve spent here…
Point One:
That creating interactions with others over here by means of commenting on posts & notes and in the threads brings followers and subscribers (mainly free because of point two)
Point Two:
If you want people to pay to subscribe to your Newsletter you need to give them a reason to.
Which brings me to
Point Three:
It’s kind of imperative to know what your main reason for creating content over here is.
I put together a quick start guide, just for you, if you’re like me and would like step by step directions to follow to go from crickets to over a hundred subscribers in just 30 days…
Cruising into year #3 over here (I’ve been on Substack for two years already) I’m just now putting these points together.
Believe it or don’t - It just recently became obvious to me that this is a Newsletter site. Kind of like an email list. Doh!
A Newsletter on Steroids
Not only can you create content that gets emailed to your subscribers, but you can also create content in the form of notes/posts that create opportunities to interact with others over on this platform…
In fact, you could simply be over here for the community!
So many interesting people doing interesting things and sharing about it.
And then there is the podcasting/broadcasting aspect of Substack.
When I first started the You World Order Showcase Podcast, I started with Captivate.fm because it created an RSS feed for me to share my podcast episodes with all the places effortlessly.
Substack has that same capability! And as you post your podcast you can share it with your list!
I created a little “getting started” document which is really a collection of YouTube videos I found useful for starting over here. You can find that here
People posting content on YouTube really can benefit with posting that content here too!
You can grow a community much easier here than YouTube especially if you’re talking about the fringe stuff that YouTube doesn’t like.
How I Found Substack to Begin With
For several decades now I’ve been an avid follower of
.Not that I believe everything he has to say
…or look at everything he says from the same perspective, but he is a fascinating human being, and his generous musings have made me a lot of money over the years.
He found Substack after being kicked off of YouTube and Twitter and had his site attacked enough times I think he has now abandoned it. Thank you Clif!
Defining Success
So, let’s get back to going over the points.
Defining success - what do I want to do over here.
Is it a place where I’m just going to post random thoughts (okay, so I censored myself here what I really mean is random shit - I do know that I want to be my authentic self over here and my favorite words are sometimes not rated PG),
…is it going to be a place where I help coaches & spiritual entrepreneurs learn to leverage podcasts (both being a guest & hosting them here) to amplify their voice, monetize their mission and attract clients so that they can then have content to post on the Gnostic TV Network?
…Or am I going to simply use it to post my Podcast over here.
Pretty sure only option 2 will lead to monetizing this platform.
Sitting with the feeling of whether monetizing this platform is what I define as success…
Your Thoughts?
Still with me?
What are your thoughts?
How do you define success over here?
What are you doing over here?
And most importantly which option do you feel I should go with?
