Is Shame Blocking Your Spiritual Awakening? Here’s How to Break Free

Practical tools to release shame, clear your chakras, and reclaim your freedom.

Releasing Shame, Awakening Your Light: A Conversation with Lauren Courtney

Shame — that heavy, sticky fog that keeps so many brilliant, heart-led souls dimming their light.

It’s a topic that doesn’t often make it to the dinner table or our social feeds. But the truth is, it sits deep in our bones, keeping us from fully stepping into our power and purpose.

In this week’s You World Order Showcase Podcast, I had the absolute joy of sitting down with Lauren Courtney — author, coach, and host of The Portals Podcast.

She’s someone who’s walked through the depths of shame herself, only to discover that on the other side lies profound freedom, self-love, and the ability to truly glow up from the inside out.

🌱 From Corporate Hustle to Healing Souls

Lauren’s story is one so many of us can relate to — a life built around doing what we’re supposed to do.

College, corporate marketing, event planning, chasing promotions… until life, Spirit, or whatever you like to call it, gives you a not-so-subtle shove.

For Lauren, it was a series of surgeries, a broken foot, and that inner whisper that wouldn’t go away:

“You’re here to help people heal.”

I love how she described her leap — quitting the job, making simple changes like packing her own lunch (which led to feeding her co-workers too!), and enrolling in holistic health school even when it didn’t make sense on paper. She listened. She trusted. She let her body’s wisdom, and those cosmic nudges guide her into a brand-new chapter.

🌌 The Spiritual Awakening No One Prepares You For

But the real shift came with heartbreak and loss.
When her best friend and first love passed away — and then, not long after, her childhood best friend too — Lauren was forced to confront the darkest parts of her story: grief, survivor’s guilt, addiction, the shame of decisions she’d made along the way.

Instead of burying it, she sat with it. She asked the hard questions: Why me? Why am I still here?

And she found the only way through was to fully see, hear, and forgive every part of herself — the parts that messed up, the parts that numbed out, the parts that sought love in all the wrong places.

As she says so beautifully:

“We don’t always know we’re being guided until we’re on the other side of the guidance.”

💫 Why Talking About Shame Matters

This conversation hit home for me — and probably for you too, if you’ve ever felt weighed down by a choice you made, a secret you carry, or the fear that you’ll be judged if you speak your truth.

Whether it’s addiction, abortion, toxic relationships, or feeling like you never lived up to someone else’s expectations — shame festers in silence. But when we talk about it? We take away its power.

Lauren reminded us that we’re not here to be perfect. We’re here to live, to learn, to forgive, and to grow.

And our stories — the messy, complicated parts — are often the exact medicine someone else needs.

🔮 Chakras, Intuition & Coming Back to Your Energy

One of my favorite parts of this episode was hearing Lauren explain how our intuition is woven through every cell of our being — and how we can tune back into it using food, movement, crystals, oils, breathwork, and awareness.

She describes it like adjusting an old radio dial — each chakra is a frequency, and when they’re aligned, we come home to ourselves.

If you ever feel ungrounded, disconnected, or like your inner voice is on mute — Lauren’s book Glow Up Your Chakras is a beautiful roadmap back to your inner knowing.

🌷 A Loving Invitation to Your Own Healing

If Lauren’s journey shows us anything, it’s this:
You don’t have to carry shame alone. You don’t have to keep pretending you’re fine when you’re not. And you absolutely do not have to keep your light hidden.

This is exactly what this podcast and my work are all about — helping spiritual entrepreneurs, coaches, and everyday souls like you amplify your voice, share your truth, and heal the parts that still hold you back.

So, if you’re craving a safe space to release the shame, tune into your intuition, and step into the next chapter of your mission — I invite you to:
