Going through notes this morning and saw a cartoon…
a line drawing of a man with a cigarette.
Just a few swirls on the page really.
And it got me thinking how much drawing and writing have in common.
Some do it well.
Others not so much.
Sometimes it’s full of detail…
sometimes just an outline, a suggestion of boundaries or thoughts.
They are both movement of a pen and ink across paper. (Or at least they started that way)
In some languages written words ARE art…
Just as cave drawing were a method of communication,
cartoons and drawings express thoughts even today.
There is emotion in human communication.
Especially when done with a pen and ink.
It is the thing AI will never capture.
Simple doodles have inspired many of my poems ✨✍️🌀
